A developer of floating vertical-axis wind turbines for offshore power generation in deep water.
Albatross Technology is developing FAWT, a floating vertical-axis wind turbine. The design aims to simplify the offshore structure and lower its center of gravity, addressing the cost of large floating platforms and mooring equipment required by conventional horizontal-axis turbines.
The Tokyo company is testing a small offshore experimental unit in Nagasaki with industrial partners. A larger offshore test machine is the next development step; its work targets electricity companies and the manufacturing supply chain needed to deploy floating wind power.
