Quartermaster secures $100m Series B and a $40m debt facility for maritime intelligence

Insight Partners led the equity round, with Stifel Bank providing the debt facility for the company building a sensor network aboard working vessels.

Quartermaster installs its SmartMast camera and computing package on civilian and commercial vessels. Ships already at sea become moving observation points, sending video and location data into a maritime intelligence network. The system can surface activity around vessels that are not broadcasting through the Automatic Identification System, giving commercial operators and government teams another view of conditions and traffic.

The company reports more than 600 sensors deployed across over 25 countries. Expanding that coverage involves both software and physical installation aboard additional ships. The announcement combines new equity with access to debt financing; the $40m facility is available capital, rather than a disclosure that the entire amount has been drawn.

What the funding supports

  • Hire engineers
  • Expand the vessel sensing network
  • Scale manufacturing and fleet deployment
