Quartermaster
Vessel-mounted cameras and sensors connected through an AI maritime intelligence network, providing commercial and government teams with observations of vessels, conditions and unusual activity at sea.
Product
Collecting maritime observations from ships already at sea
Quartermaster equips civilian and commercial vessels with SmartMast, a package of cameras, onboard computing and satellite communications. Video and geolocation from these moving observation points feed an AI maritime awareness network. This gives operators a picture of nearby vessel activity, conditions and anomalies, including vessels that do not broadcast through the Automatic Identification System. The network grows through ships already operating at sea rather than a separate fleet built solely for surveillance.
SmartMast installs on vessels above 20 gross tonnes with a mast or superstructure; its power and communications configuration can be adapted to the market. Commercial fleet operators and government maritime teams are the intended users of the resulting intelligence. Quartermaster’s website reports more than 600 sensors deployed across over 25 countries and over 10 million miles travelled by the equipped fleet. These company-reported deployments establish a working network, with further sensing coverage and fleet deployment being expanded.
